Calaita is the continuation of a personal project of Chico Pere who, by fate is now performing in Manchester where new members have joined the band. From a flamenco singers’ family, Los Peregrina, Chico Pere (José Antonio Peregrina) grew up in Triana (Seville), from where he moved to Barcelona developing his career as professional flamenco singer (cantaor) joining bands such as Ojos de Brujo. He also composes, plays guitar and is an experienced percussionist in flamenco rhythms. The lead guitar is played by El Afilaó (Glenn Sharp). Glenn is a professional guitarist experienced both in flamenco and classical guitar. He studied in Seville with maestro Francisco Morales, and in the UK with tutors such as Juan Martín and Steve Gordon. The rest of the members of Calaita are Leo (J. A. Paredes) from Seville, playing cajón flamenco. La Cartagenera (Araceli García) is in charge of the choreography and dancing. In this concert we will be treated to the traditional and classic flamenco and the livelier and happier rhythms, such us seguiriyas, soleares, colombianas, sevillanas, rumbas, bulerías and alegrías.
